My first official art class was a jewelry class in 1970, but life changed and I went to work in uninteresting, stressful environments. From 1973 to 1980 I had the opportunity to pursue the fine arts. I found a great quietness in my soul when I worked at being a fine artist. I worked in more than one medium, but sculpture is what I loved the most. However, life changed again and I was back to uninteresting, stressful environments, which do not lend themselves to creativity.
Knowing I some day wanted to return to a creative path, I explored the arts again. None brought me back to that quiet place in my soul until I took another jewelry class. When I had the opportunity to continue on that path of creativity, I continued in what made me feel like I was "at home" making jewelry. I approach my work in a sculptural manner. Working in wax feels like another type of clay, adding and subtracting as needed. I love the design and process of creating jewelry.
What you know about me when you meet me is that I love jewelry. I have owned and collected jewelry most of my life. Looking, finding, purchasing, and wearing jewelry stirs a passion in me. I'm a collector!
As I wanted my paintings and sculpture to stir some emotions in the viewer, I want my jewelry to do the same.
